One Year Ago...

I had just finished my favorite home project to date. We live near a community youth baseball field. I walk--a lot--and would pass by this weathered old scoreboard every day. It was just tossed aside, forgotten, uncared for. After making several calls to track down someone with the authority to give the scoreboard to me, I brought it home. Hubs cut off the bottom, because I just wanted the numbers and the word "Inning." I roughed up the cut edge so it would match the weathered edge. Together, we screwed it into the studs and installed coat hooks under each number.

I love love love love love it. I am thankful for it every day--for its function, its charm, its community link. And how perfect that it was the exact length needed for this wall?

I asked Hubs to cut off the "Guest" part of the scoreboard for future use. You know, for someday when we actually have a guest room. The "Home" portion was destroyed beyond repair, or I would have snagged that, too. Gotta love recycling. :)
