photo friday. eight.

Just playing around this week. I find myself getting excited when I see pretty light—in the  morning, in the evening, little tiny glimmers of light. When I see pretty light, I need to grab my camera. It's a reflex, like when a glass falls and you reach out to catch it without thinking. I reach for my camera and must capture the light before it's gone.

The kids no longer think it's weird that I go outside for a few minutes in the morning when they're watching cartoons. The little guy urgently notifies me to grab my camera whenever a hummingbird lands on the feeder. It's nice to have such support.

This light inspiration is hard to see if you don't know it's there. I was fixing breakfast for the kids and noticed that the light from the window was reflecting off the edge of the plate. I wanted to see if I could catch it with the camera. I'm fascinated by the differences in what my eyes see and what my camera can capture. There is a little glint of light on the edge there, but nothing like what my eye saw. Perhaps if I had the tripod out and used a longer shutter speed I could have captured it more accurately, but I probably would have lost the light in the time it took me to set things up.
Don't you love these little glasses? They were a gift from a friend last week. They're from Pier1's Tasting Party line. Little Mister asked for Kix with his waffle that morning, and ordinarily I'd make him choose one or the other (as they also have protein and fruit with breakfast), but I figured a fancy, tiny serving of Kix would be fun. Both kids loved it!
