74/366 inadequate

Sweetpea picked these little wildflowers for me over the weekend. They were open when she brought them in, and I was waiting for them to open back up before I photographed them. They never did. Sweetpea offered to pick some more for me, but the sun has been hiding for days, so the flowers have been hiding, too.

But this morning, while feeling rather inadequate, I realized that I was not appreciating the flowers for what they are. These tiny, delicate buds are beautiful even without their white blossoms. They have gracefully curved stems, undulating vibrant green leaves, and they're reaching out for the sun they love so dearly.

My apologies, little flowers, for expecting you to be what I wanted you to be, instead of what you are.
