quilt ingredients

I've been itching to make a new quilt since March, thanks to Erika Ray's quilt posts. The school auction prevented me from even thinking about a new quilt until the beginning of May, so I postponed and read Erika's Lazy Gal quilt tutorials in between auction prep days. I'm glad I did, because she introduced me to a new way of piecing that I'm going to try. (Strips! How did I never think of strips?) I'm a self-taught quilter, and I learn something new with each one.

Auction is long over, fabric has been purchased, and as of yesterday, fabric has been washed. (Including Lotta Jansdotter. . . finally!) It will be gray gingham on one side, scrappy squares on the other. No plain backing for me this time. I have scraps I need to use, and they all happened to go together pretty well. I bought some fat quarters and yardage to fill out the scraps. I'm really excited to see it all come together.

I'm hoping to iron and cut tonight. Wish me luck! Maybe if I avoid the 5pm margarita tonight, I'll actually get it done. Last night's margarita rendered me worthless for the rest of the night.
