I've been asked to contribute a dessert to our family's Thanksgiving table this year. There are usually several pies, so I set out to find a non-pie dessert. Here are the finalists of my recipe search:
What desserts will adorn your family's Thanksgiving table?
- Some combination of this Bourbon Pumpkin Caramel Cheesecake and the Pioneer Woman's Caramel Pumpkin Gingersnap Cheesecake. These recipes are very similar, except the first contains bourbon and uses homemade caramel. Any recipe that contains the words "candy thermometer" make me flee, so that is out. But PW's recipe uses caramel sundae topping, and I'm definitely down with that. I do want to keep in the bourbon, though...
- PW's Coffee Cake (Literally), that's actually made with coffee instead of that other imposter with the the streusel topping. Not very Thanksgiving-y, but so interesting that it's worth a shot anyway.
- Pecan Pie Cake from The Cake Mix Doctor. I've made this several times and could eat the whole thing myself. The best part is eating the chewy baked corn syrup mixture from the edges of the pan. I simply must make this sometime between Thanksgiving and New Year's Day. I cannot go a full holiday season without it. If I don't make it for Thanksgiving, I will soon, and post the recipe.
