last-minute gift idea

Attention all last-minute knitters: here is a fabulous chunky scarf pattern from Purl Bee. The author says you could actually make it Christmas Eve and gift it the next morning. I bet I even have time to track down some of those fatty needles and knit the scarf before the 25th. (And I live an hour+ away from any decent knitting shops!)

Now I just need to figure out what "Slip 1 knitwise" means...

Just in case you haven't found your answer :) Slip knitwise means slip a stitch from the left to the right needle, without knitting or changing (twisting) it's mount (position) on the needle. Pretty scarf!

Thanks, Megan! I understand what you're saying, but I can't wrap my head around the purpose of that. Maybe we can chat about it this weekend. :)

I'm thinking that a group knit session (okay, lesson for me) is in order! This looks like a more manageable project for me. :)

I don't know, Jen...I'm a little intimidated by the huge needles and doubled thick yarn. But you could start with a similar mini project, like a scarf for a Barbie or American Girl doll. I think I know someone who could use something like that. :)

Just saw this at the bottom of another post and clicked on it. Did you ever make the scarf? I think a knitting group would be fun! We should start a little group. Even a monthly meeting in the evening (sans kids) would be enough to provide me a knitting excuse and some friendly support.
